imtoken will never ask for your seed phrase, private key or verification code. Always review the address, network and request details before transferring, signing or approving.

imtoken FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers for common wallet and blockchain questions. Security-sensitive topics focus on verification rather than promises.

What is the imtoken wallet?

imtoken presents multi-chain asset management, network usage, Web3 connections and wallet security knowledge. Users remain responsible for protecting their own seed phrases and private keys.

Where should I store a seed phrase?

Prefer an offline, private and durable backup method. Do not send a seed phrase through chat, email or public cloud documents, and never give it to someone claiming to be support.

How are private keys and seed phrases related?

Both are highly sensitive control credentials. Implementations vary, but the key principle is the same: someone who obtains them may gain control over the corresponding on-chain assets.

Why should I verify the network before sending?

The same asset name can exist on multiple networks and addresses may look similar. A network mismatch can prevent assets from arriving where you expect.

What is gas?

Gas measures the computational resources used by a transaction or smart-contract action. The final fee depends on network rules, transaction complexity and congestion.

What is a transaction hash used for?

A transaction hash is an important on-chain reference that can be used in a block explorer to check status, block data, sender, recipient and execution results.

Why is my transaction waiting for confirmation?

After broadcast, a transaction has to be included by the network and may need additional confirmations. Congestion, fee settings and block timing can affect the wait.

Does connecting to a DApp authorize my assets?

Not by itself. A wallet connection usually shares limited account information. Signatures, transactions and token approvals are separate requests that should each be reviewed.

Are message signatures the same as transaction signatures?

Not exactly. A message signature may be used for login or account proof, while a transaction signature can trigger an on-chain state change. Review the source and content in both cases.

What is a token approval?

A token approval allows a specified spender to use a token up to an allowed amount. Review the spender, allowance and purpose, and consider revoking permissions you no longer need.

Why do addresses look the same on EVM networks?

Many EVM-compatible networks use the same address format, but they remain separate networks. The same address does not automatically move assets between chains.

How does Layer 2 relate to mainnet?

Layer 2 systems extend transaction processing while relying on a mainnet for parts of their security or settlement. Bridging, fees and confirmation paths can differ from mainnet.

How can I recognize phishing?

Check the domain spelling, source and redirect path instead of trusting appearance alone. Stop immediately if a page asks for a seed phrase, private key or verification code.

Can an on-chain transfer be reversed?

Once confirmed under network rules, a blockchain transfer generally cannot be reversed by a wallet provider. Verify the address, network and amount before sending.

Does Ethereum staking guarantee returns?

No. Rewards can change, exits can involve waiting periods, validators can face network penalties, smart contracts carry technical risk and asset prices can fluctuate.

What does a PoS validator do?

A validator performs consensus duties such as proposing or attesting to blocks according to the protocol. Duties, rewards and penalties are defined by the network and can change with upgrades.
